Magnesium works with calcium to maintain healthy bone density, nerve and muscle impulses. The average UK diet is relatively high in calcium but deficient in magnesium. This is because milk is not as good a source of magnesium as calcium is. Both calcium and magnesium are present in green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds.
Low levels of magnesium can lead to cardiovascular disease. People suffering from cardiovascular disease are often found to have low levels of magnesium in their heart. Low levels of magnesium can cause the heart muscles to go into spasms. There is evidence to suggest that some heart attacks are not caused by obstructions, but by cramping.
Standardised extract of ginkgo biloba leaf can increase circulation and has shown antioxidant activity. Studies have confirmed its use for conditions associated with ageing, including memory loss, poor circulation, tinnitus and vertigo. Ginkgo biloba helps aid blood flow to the brain, thereby increasing its oxygen supply. Scientists have shown ginkgo biloba to work in a similar way to aspirin, by helping to reduce the 'stickiness' of the blood. This can lower the risk of blood clots. Ginkgo biloba also has antioxidant properties due to 'mopping up' damaging compounds, known as free radicals which can cause damage to healthy blood cells.

One of the oldest medicinal herbs known to Man, the fresh green leaves of the Ginkgo biloba tree are gathered in spring to create this beneficial tincture. Alfred Vogel's own Ginkgo tree, planted on his return from Japan, was a daily source of fresh leaves which he carefully chewed as he grew older to absorb the valuable juices.

As a digestive tonic, Ginger improves the production and secretion of bile, aids fat breakdown and may reduce nausea and vomiting. Ginger may also improve the efficiency of the digestive processes, allowing faster transportation of substances through the digestive tract, lessening the irritation in the intestines, reducing flatulence and intestinal spasms. Ginger has also been shown to improve the circulation by inhibiting platelet aggregation.
